Linda J. Roelans
Linda grew up on the east side of Detroit, Michigan and later moved to Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. She attended Western Michigan University and completed a double major in both Spanish and Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology. As the daughter of a Detroit Fire Chief, Linda was inspired to seek work that allowed her to be involved in the community and advocate for people in their darkest hour. She first worked with underprivileged children as a Case Manager for a youth services non-profit and later auto-immune disease patients as a Patient Education Specialist. Linda realized she wanted the power to make even greater positive change in the lives of others, she was drawn to a legal career.
Linda went on to study at Wayne State University Law School. There she participated in the Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic (LAPC). The LAPC, in partnership with the Karmanos Cancer Institute, allowed Linda to hone her skills of advocacy and case management as well as empathy and attention to individual client needs. As part of her LAPC work Linda also executed and presented an Estate Planning for Seniors seminar at a local senior living community.
While at Wayne Law Linda was awarded as a Board of Governor’s Scholar and received the 2017 Faculty Annual Award for her work in Contracts. She participated in the school’s trial advocacy program and became the Mock Trial Fall 2016 In-House Champion. Linda was chosen as a Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) Competition National Team Member. She went on to compete against other law schools placing in the top three teams in the multi-state region. Linda was a contributing member of the Wayne Law Journal of Law in Society. She was nominated as Treasurer of the International Law Student’s Association, and Events Coordinator of the Women’s Law Caucus.
